After graduating in 1988 from the University of Michigan-Flint Honors Program with a business degree, Ken attended Wayne State University Law School and graduated in 1991. Since then, Ken has been practicing law exclusively in West Michigan. He started his legal career with Miller Johnson in Grand Rapids, followed by a smaller insurance defense firm in Holland, and a short stint in commercial real estate. Ken started his own firm in 1996, where he decided to focus his practice on estate planning and estate administration. He then expanded to include Medicaid and Veterans’ Administration planning, special needs and disability planning, and probate litigation. As part of his practice, Ken also helps small businesses set up Limited Liability Companies and execute simple real estate transactions. The Law Firm does NOT take any divorce, personal injury or bankruptcy cases, but if clients have such issues, Ken has a relationship with attorneys who specialize in those areas of law. Ken enjoys sharing his legal expertise with non-profit organizations, conducting seminars at churches and at his new office, which has a large classroom designed for that purpose.

Andy initially lived in Holland, but then his family moved to East Jordan, in northern lower Michigan. After graduating high school, he moved back “south” and attended Grand Valley State University where he met his wife. They lived in Grand Rapids for about 10 years while Andy attended law school. He began working for Ken shortly after passing the bar and has enjoyed working here ever since. Andy is married and has two school-aged children who keep him busy. When not working or doing school activities, he enjoys running, biking, and camping, exploring as much of Michigan as weather permits.

Sharmila graduated from the University of Delhi with a Masters in English Literature and a Master of Philosophy. She earned her law degree from Western Michigan University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, magna cum laude. She joined Ken’s practice in 2015 where her focus is on probate and estate administration and estate planning. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar Association of Michigan. Sharmila enjoys traveling and spending time on the shores of Lake Michigan with her husband, two children, and their two dogs.
Carol has been working as a Legal Assistant for Ken’s office since 2002 and has four additional years of law office experience prior to that. Before starting her legal career, she accumulated 13 years of corporate office experience. Carol helps in a variety of capacities in the estate planning process, probate administration, and trust administration, and is referred to as Ken’s “right hand man” by Ken himself!
Amy worked for over 19 years in the medical malpractice field. During that time, her boss and mentor, Elliot Grysen, encouraged her to obtain a degree as a Paralegal. In 2011, she obtained her Paralegal/Pre-law associate's degree through Rasmussen College. She also received her certification as a Paralegal through the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). Since that time, she has worked in various areas of law including civil, criminal, estate and probate law. She has been married to her husband for over 33 years and they have one daughter together. Amy enjoys walking the beautiful trails that Ottawa County and surrounding counties offer. She also enjoys being creative.
Michael is a retired attorney who spent 27 years practicing law in both New York and Michigan. His practice included the areas of civil and criminal litigation, bankruptcy, and estate planning/probate. He graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in 1993 with a Juris Doctorate degree. His retiree passions include performing in theater and playing golf. He has been married for 42 years and has two children and two grandchildren.
Colleen is new to the legal field and joined Ken’s team in July 2018. She previously worked in Special Education for 8+ years and in the insurance industry around her years spent caring for her family. She is married and is the proud mom of two amazing children.
Linda joined Ken's firm in 2021 and at that time she had over 25 years experience working as a legal assistant in various areas of law. She also had over 6 years experience as a business manager.
Theresa owned her own accounting practice and has worked with Ken since early 2004 doing bookkeeping and payroll. She started working exclusively for Ken's office in July 2018. Prior to owning her own accounting business, Theresa spent several years in public accounting and corporate financial reporting, and more recently worked for a not-for-profit. She is married and is the proud mom of four beautiful children.
Taryn joined the firm in December 2024.
